Speaker 1 (00:06):
All right, show number two for this morning. If you
have not checked out the Kirk Cousins reaction to his benching,
go check that out right now. Just post it on
YouTube around six o'clock this morning, Show number two. All right,
looking up my notes real quick here, all right, I
got some good ones here. First thing that I want
(00:28):
to start with, and this has been appearing during NFL
commercials all season long. And it's a little shot at
Progressive Insurance because who in the right mind is thinking
of a player that they want to represent your brand
(00:53):
and your company asks Jacoby Brissett to be that guy
now and Progressives Defense. Jacoby Brissett was named the day
one starter of the New England Patriots football team this season,
so he started a few games for the Patriots. He's
(01:16):
a starting quarterback when this commercial starts airing. But tell
me that you have a limited budget without telling me
you have a limited budget. Is the State Farm coming
with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid and all these big boys,
And then here's Progressive Insurance coming with Jacoby Bressett. Anyways, again,
(01:39):
tell me you have a limited budget without telling me
you have a limited budget. It's funny how the mom
or dad's on the computer, and then let's call him
Jacoby Brissett NFL. Who knows who Jacoby Brissett is. If
you asked the average sports fan, not NFL fan, but
average person who Jacoby Pressett is, they would have no idea.
You ask a non NFL fan who Patrick Mahomes is,
(02:02):
and they know who Patrick Mahomes is. So anyway, just
a quick shot at progressive, any progressive if you're interested
in having another brand ambassador. The Minnesota tim podcast is available,
could do the same job, but for much cheaper than
Jacoby Brisset. So anyway, just trying to throw the name
out there. You know, a lot of the podcast as
(02:23):
almost four thousand YouTube subscribers, might be very interesting. I
might be more pertinent than Jacoby Brissett, who's the backup
on the Patriots Right now, just thinking, I just want
to put a little something in your ear. Give give it,
give it, Give your boy a chance, all right. The
main topic that I want to discuss this morning revolves
(02:44):
around the expectations for Minnesota Vikings fans on the Minnesota
Vikings organization for the rest of the season. I saw
the most annoying by someone who will not be named,
And it's a take that I've seen before. It's honestly
(03:08):
a take that I've had before in my much younger years,
when I was not quite as mature or quite as
with it as I am right now. And it's funny
how a younger version of myself, if I saw a
younger version of myself saying the exact same thing out
of react right now the exact same way. And I
remember having this take when Christian Ponder was leading the
(03:31):
Minnesota Vikings to their playoff run in Adrian Peterson's MVP season,
and I said something along the lines of it, like,
you know what the Vikings they were like, they were
going up and down in the season. They're like starting
the season like hot, and then they had a mid
season collapsed and they finished the season strong, and I
said something along the lines of it, you know, they're
(03:52):
not even supposed to be this good anyway, so let's
just appreciate where they're at. I hate that take. There's
nothing more unknown than that take. I saw someone post
the other day and it's not like a nobody, it's
it's it's a prominent media figure, and they sets up
the long lines of the Minnesota Vikings are twelve and
(04:15):
two with Sam Darnold. Let's just appreciate where they're at
and not get nitpicky about the rest of the season. No,
why would I do that. The Minnesota Vikings are twelve
and two and right now are the most likely to
(04:38):
win a Super Bowl since two thousand and nine. In
twenty seventeen, it was a magical year. It was a
magical play case keen of to Stefan Diggs, a awesome
play I unbelieved. I'll never forget where I was Jimmy
Johnson in Washington, DC when I heard Joe going crazy.
(05:01):
I turned the game on the computer and I was
listening to it, and then I heard Joe Block going
crazy and I sprint it to the back and it
was like, what the heck is happening here? And I
was going nuts for the rest of the night. Magical play,
magical moment. But at the same time, that play was
a little I mean, it was a great play. I'm
not criticizing the play, but does that one play make
(05:23):
the Vikings super Bowl contenders? I don't really think so.
I think it was more of a fluke than anything.
This season does not seem fluky Sam Darnold twenty nine touchdowns,
eleven picks. The Vikings defense is elite. The opposive lineman,
if Brian O'Neil can stay healthy, has been solid for
(05:46):
the most part, especially considering that Christian Dearrisaw is out
for the year and has been for the last few weeks.
This Minnesota Vikings organization is in prime position to do
legitimate damage in the playoffs. They control their own destiny
right now. And then I read this take, Oh, you know,
(06:09):
let's just be happy where they're at. Let's just be
let's just be pleased with what they've done this season. No,
do you know how many times we have to come
with this like expectation of like, oh, let's just be
happy that the Vikings are playing good this season. Why
do we need to expect more than just you know,
making the play Why that is a ridiculous mindset to
(06:35):
have on an NFL organization. Any NFL organization, even the
Raiders or Panthers, are trying just be happy, just be content.
The whole point of being an NFL organization is so
that your team can win the big game. And now
(06:56):
that the Minnesota Vikings are finally in an in an
available opportunity to do so, and are playing like an
elite team this year. My sights are not set on
being content and having a team that's twelve and two
and could be the number one season. I'm not just
gonna be sitting here happy that the Vikings are playing
(07:18):
good this year. I am happy that the Vikings are
playing good this year, but I'm not just gonna leave
it at that. Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to
a super Bowl after Carson Wentz went down. Sam Darnold
is Nick Foles this season. He is playing spectacular football,
(07:40):
and he is hot. And my expectation for the Minnesota
Vikings right now is not to just get into the
playoffs and be happy high five each other. And that's
not Kevin O'Connell's expectation either. When you watch his locker
room speeches, it is the most unknowing, pathetic take that
(08:04):
I saw the other day. And I remember having a
take like that in the past, and I am so
upset with myself for having a take like that, because
this is just stupid. Now, Christian Ponder started the season
so good, Well, then the expectation changes to, you know,
(08:24):
what the Vikings should be able to do something this year,
not to oh, well, you know, let's just be happy
we're here. And the Vikings have set an expectation right
now that they should be Super Bowl contenders. You're not
twelve and two by accident. You're twelve and two because
(08:46):
you're a good football team. And if you're a good
football team, your expectation should not be, oh, let's just
try to compete in the playoffs, and you know, let's
just try to see if we can win a game. No,
let's go all the f and way. Let's that's that's
let's go all the way. Come on anyways, Minnesota Vikings,
(09:12):
twelve and two, Hey, Progressive, if you're still interested, give
me a call. All right, I'll fired up on that one. Everyone,
thank you for making this podcast part every day.
