Speaker 1 (00:06):
We just finished last night watching the worst Super Bowl
that I can remember. The Philadelphia Egles completely dominate the
Kansas City Chiefs, uh but a zillion to zero at
the end of the first half, and you get to
(00:29):
the halftime show, and the halftime show was one of
the worst halftime shows I've ever seen. Didn't know a
single song, couldn't understand a single lyric, And then you
get to the second half and any chances of a
She's come back I immediately wiped out the window. I
(00:51):
almost fell asleep during the halftime show. But then third quarter,
it was like, this game's over, this is terrible, it's boring.
So he turned on Boy Meets World, CAUs its Boy Meets.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
World, Boy Meets Wound didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Stand by me causes Boy Meets Wood amazing themes on
amazing show by means, and then we turned it on
at the end for the postgame reaction the interviews. Because
the best story of the Super Bowl is the fact
that Jalen.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Hurts had to overcome so much.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
To be in that position to win the Super Bowl.
Going back to college, benched in the National Championship game
for Tua Tongue of Vailua transfers to Oklahoma, wins the Heisman,
gets added by the Eagles, and then loses the Super
(02:04):
Bowl two years ago because of a big mistake he
made fumbling the ball and the Chiefs picking it up
to run back for a touchdown. And then this Super
Bowl he played sensationally, made the throws he needed to make,
scrambled when it was appropriate. The MVP in reality was
(02:26):
the Eagles defense. But the story of Jalen Hurts, his
perseverance and his attitude while he was going through the perseverance,
that's the stuff people talk about. Because when he was
benched for TUA, he didn't.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Have a bad attitude.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
He was cheering his teammate zone and that's been the
story of Jalen Hurts. A man centered around Christ Jesus
that is, and he really lives that out. So that's
the best story of the Super Bowl by far. But
as far as the Minnesota Vikings are concerned, every year
(03:05):
post Super Bowl I look at the Minnesota Vikings and say.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Could they have played in that game?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Could they have competed with the Philadelphia Eagles or the
Kansas City Chiefs. Well, based on how the Chiefs played,
the Minnesota Vikings may have competed with them, but in reality,
I don't necessarily think that's true because the reason why
(03:38):
the Chiefs played so bad is because the Eagles defensive
line and secondary and linebackers played so elite in the
Super Bowl. So when I look at the Philadelphia Eagles
dominating the Kansas City Chiefs and the Super Bowl cressing
(04:00):
Minnesota Vikings, reality sets in.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
And the reality is this, the Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Vikings are not one or two players away from being
a competitive team with a chance to win the Super Bowl.
They are five to six seven players away from being
a competitive Super Bowl team. Think about it, before the
season starts, think about who you list the NFL team
(04:30):
that is. Think of the NFL teams that you list
with your chance to win a Super Bowl. It's the Chiefs,
Maybe the Eagles are on that list, the Bills are
on that list. It's a very few select teams, maybe
five teams with a legit chance to win the Super
Bowl before the season started, and it's gonna be the
(04:53):
same five teams next season. Maybe the forty nine ers
was a team this year, And the reality is is
that the Minnesota Vikings are probably not one of those
five teams.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
And you really look.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
At it objectively. Okay, Minnesota Vikings fans. Objectively, I can
be a Minnesota Vikings fan, which I am, and also
take a look at the rest of the NFL and
take a look at where the Minnesota Vikings stand against
the elite of the elite.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Ja Jon McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
We're all excited and hopeful for him, and it seems
like he has the hit factor. But the Minnesota Vikings
problem isn't even the quarterback position. Defensive line. I mean,
Grenard and Van Ginkl are nice, but they are not
dominant defensive line players like a Jalen Carter or the
(05:58):
or the guy that completely dominated that football.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Game last night.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It was Josh Treats or something like that just annihilated
the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line. They had like two
and a half sacks. And the reason why the Eagles
were so dominant is because they didn't send a blitz
the entire night and their front foward defensive line just
obliterated the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
And you look at the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
The only way that they really get pressure in reality
is if they send five or six guys at the quarterback,
which weakens the secondary's ability to cover.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Think about it from this perspective.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
The Eagles defensive line completely crushed the Chiefs offensive line.
What do you think they would have done to Blake Brandle,
Garrett Bradberry, Dalton Reisner, Cam Robinson and Brian O'Neill.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
The Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Probably would have been on their third string quarterback last
night because there was no stopping that Eagles front four.
And I love this time of the year because this
is a time where we can be objective about where
the Minnesota Vikings stand in their chance to win.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
The Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Because I love what Tom Brady said leading up to
the game on the Herd. He said, you better win
the Super Bowl because there's not enough to get there.
These are the games that people remember. It's almost better.
I won't even say it's almost better. It is better
(07:52):
for a team not even to get to the super
Bowl than to lose the Super Bowl. Because if Mahomes
lost in the AFC Championship game to the Bills, well,
his Super Bowl record would be three and one, but now.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It looks even worse with a three and two record.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Nobody credits teams for getting to the Super Bowl and losing.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Effect it's a damage on your reputation. Think about Michael Jordan.
Jordan is six and zero in the finals.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Let's say he made the finals in nineteen ninety, nineteen
eighty nine and lost, and.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
He was six and two. You know, the amazingness or.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
The reputation of Jordan is so high right now.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Because he went six and zero undefeated to the finals.
Nobody could beat him. And if you win.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Six and two doesn't look as good. Looks like he's beatable.
And that's a problem with our standard, but it's reality
of how people.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
View professional athletes.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
And if the Minnesota Vikings just get to the super Bowl,
that's not enough. It's not enough just to get there,
because if they get there and lose, while they're zero
to four in the Super Bowl all time, another loss can't.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Get it done in the big Game. What is the
Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
So I'm not comparing the Minnesota Vikings to the teams
that lose the Super Bowl. I'm comparing the Minnesota Vikings
to the team that.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
And the depressing fact is that the Minnesota Vikings are
Vikings are nowhere near winning the Super Bowl, not even close.
You know, they made the playoffs. Cool story, but the
reality is only as few select teams have a legitimate
chance to win the Super super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
The Chiefs, Bills, Eagles.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Those were the teams that, realistically, at the end of
the day, maybe the Lions, not even the Lions, because
of all their injuries, had a chance to win the
Super Bowl. I don't think the Lions had a chance
this season when it came playoff time. Those injuries that
they sustained throughout the regular season was going to be
(10:26):
exposed in the playoffs because their obvious needed to put
up fifty points just to win football games, and that
wasn't something they could do on a consistent basis. The
Minnesota Vikings are extremely far off from winning the Super Bowl,
and if you look at the Vikings objectively, they had
zero chance to win that game if they were to
(10:50):
play a team like the Eagles. I get that they're
both in the NFC, but if they were to play
a team like the Eagles, they would have had no chance,
and I would I would argue that they would have
even lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl because
the reason why the Chiefs lost is because the Eagles
front four was so dominant and the Minnesota Vikings did
(11:11):
not have a dominant front four or a dominant five
on the offensive side. They got whiteouts. Hopefully they got
a quarterback. But the Vikings secondary is weak. Their front
four is not as dominant as super Bowl teams are,
and their front five offensive line is definitely not as dominant.
(11:36):
The Vikings got exposed when it mattered most this season.
Their offensive line and Sam Darnold struggled to do anything
right in the biggest moment their playoff game. So that's
my take for the day. Sorry to bring you sad
news on a weekday whenever, whenever you're listening to this,
(11:57):
But this is an objective pot and I don't cater
to being a homer and taking a look at the
Vikings and say.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Oh, we're going through whatever we are, we're the best team.
I'll just right tull my carth that gets in there.
We're gonna win it all.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
It's gonna be a few years at the very minimum,
because I'm done with this. Are the Viking super Bowl contenders?
Talk before every season, I'm done with it. They got
to prove it first, or at least show more than
they did this year. They're fourteen to three and I
fell for the Super Bowl contender hype. But I shouldn't deaf.
I should have been more aware of how they would
(12:38):
have reacted come playoff time, and they got exposed at
the end of the season. All right, Thank you for watching,
