Speaker 2 (00:28):
You're listening to this podcast. J J McCarthy took to
the podium.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Today and made a lot of headlines with some of
his outspoken confidence this afternoon. So we're gonna react to it.
We're gonna place comments, so stick with me. But first
I needed to check out five Star bas Solutions to Minneapolis,
because if you need a bathroom remodel, there's no better
(00:56):
place to start than five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis.
Don't wait six to eight weeks to get your bathroom
project done, get it done in forty eight hours. My
wife and I needed a bathroom model. And here's the thing.
We did not want to wait six weeks and cram
into a tiny bathroom in the basement of our house.
(01:19):
We found five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis, and they
remodeled our entire bathroom in forty eight hours. Forty eight hours,
that's all it took a new floor, a new shower,
a new tub, a new sink, a new vanity, and
(01:40):
we had our bathroom back three days later. Free consultations
are available.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
They do it all.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
We had a multi shower, wiped it out, we had
a nasty, embarrassing bathroom, took care of it in forty
eight hours, and we had our dream bathroom in three days.
Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis, free consultation available and affordable
payment plans. They are the best. Take it from me.
(02:09):
Five Star Bas Solutions of Minneapolis. Okay, So, JJ McCarthy
takes to the podium for the first time since he
was injured last year, which means he's going to receive
a lot of questions and we are going to receive
a lot of answers from JJ McCarthy. Kevin Zeber to ESPN,
a senior NFL insider for the Minnesota Vikings, asked JJ
(02:32):
McCarthy if he feels like he's ready to start, Well, McCarthy,
would he have to say about that.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
My day, I know I'm ready to start. I appreciate
that question, Kevin, because all the work I put in
and just the confidence of my skills and abilities and
just being able to do my job and simplify, simplify
thanks to you know, the best of my ability every
single day and you know, just taking one day to time,
(03:00):
one play at a time, and you know, have a
tremendous coaching staff, a tremendous group of guys around me
that I can lean on.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Is it just me or does Jaj McCarthy look very
similar to Kevin O'Connell at the podium because these two
guys could be twins. Seriously, the way they answer questions,
their body mannerisms. Are we sure that Jaj McCarthy is
not the long lost son of what forty year old
(03:31):
Kevin O'Connell? Are we sure that Kevin O'Connell did not
have a baby with someone right out of high school?
Because these guys look so similar, their mannerisms, the way
they talk, their presence at the podium, it's very similar.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
But joking aside, Jaj McCarthy knows he's.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Ready to start, and in other comments, McCarthy mentioned that
he doesn't feel when hundred percent. He feels one hundred
and ten percent compared to this time last year. Now,
McCarthy may have never played a regular season NFL down,
(04:14):
but he acts like a ten year veteran at the
NFL press conference podium. What do we hear from Adrian
Peterson and every other NFL athlete, I feel better now
that I've ever folded my entire career. As they're thirty
six years old, one year away from retireing, what do
(04:35):
you hear from every quarterback that wants an opportunity to play.
I know I'm ready to start. I'm just waiting for
my opportunity, prepping for this moment. McCarthy sounds like every
other NFL quarterback that takes the podium and every other
NFL athlete that is returning from an injury.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I feel better than I've ever felt before.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
So McCarthy's press conference podium game is right up there
with the elite of the elite. I know I'm ready
to start, and I'm feeling better than I've ever felt before.
But here's the thing with McCarthy, I actually believe him.
(05:24):
You hear these different comments from these different NFL players
about how they're ready to play and about how they
feel better than they have ever felt. When McCarthy takes
the podium, and I am not some biased Minnesota Vikings podcaster,
You take a look at my Facebook page and you
look at those comments and you will know that for yourself,
(05:47):
I believe McCarthy because I believe that McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Puts in more work.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Than almost any other NFL quarterback in the league, starting
or backup. Here's what I really enjoy about McCarthy. You
don't have to worry about McCarthy not putting in the work.
He is the last guy the Minnesota Viking should be
(06:18):
worried about in terms of the amount of preparation and
work that he does to get himself ready to play
a football game. Now, can he make all the throws
on a consistent basis, can he reprotection? Can he do
all those things? That's a different level of the game.
But as far as preparation, as far as getting his
mind and body ready to play, as far as his
(06:41):
desire to study tape, there is nobody that prepares himself
more than McCarthy, And there is nobody that loves the
game of football more than Jajon McCarthy does at this.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Point in his career.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Get all the other twenty two twenty three year old
quarterbacks in the league, and I would guarantee you, I
would bet my house that McCarthy puts.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
In way more work than any.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Other quarterback his age in the NFL. So the reason
why McCarthy is so confident in his ability to start
for the Vikings is because of the amount of work
that he has done to get himself ready to play
(07:35):
for the Vikings and be the quarterback one. Plus, he
has to also be feeling good about the fact that
the Vikings backup option right now is Sam Howell. They
traded a pick for him, and I think they got
(07:55):
a fifth round pick back for him. So McCarthy Dorothy
is not competing against Aaron Rodgers. The Vikings shut that down.
McCarthy is not competing against Sam Darnold. The Vikings lowballed them,
and he was always going to take an offer somewhere else.
He's not even competing against Daniel Jones, who's a notch
higher than Sam Howell. There was nobody in that quarterback
(08:20):
room that is going to compete with McCarthy to be
quarterback one.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Now. I do remember last year.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
During the Minnesota Vikings Ota sessions where McCarthy was not
making accurate throws.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
He was struggling, and.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Then in a training camp it was looking a little
bit better and people were reporting that he was competing
with Sam Donald for the QB one position.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
When that never was a reality.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Fans were saying that not inside reporters, and you've got
to understand the different fans were hyping McCarthy because he
was the rookie quarterback coming out of Michigan who won
the National Championship game. Paul Allen of the Minnesota Vikings
radio network came on this podcast and said, it was
always going to be Sam Darnold as QB one, But
(09:20):
you listen to McCarthy talk, and you listen to what
he says and what he believes and the amount of
work that he did to get back to two fifteen
when he was at one point eighty at the end
of the Vikings season. The dude packed on thirty five
pounds since the Viking season was over, and that doesn't
(09:42):
even include the end of the season, because I'm sure
there was time where he needed to continue to rehab
that knee.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Who knows how.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Long it's been since he packed on thirty five pounds,
but the dude has put in the work to get
his body back to prime status. Because what McCarthy was
at Detroit in week seventeen of the regular season, they
showed a picture of him.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
The dude looked like a slim gym.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Now you look at a picture of McCarthy and he
went from slim gym to a hulk in a matter
of weeks. One of the questions that I personally had
about McCarthy was his thin frame. Well, at that podium,
the dude looked ripped, and he looked massive in his
(10:34):
arms and in his chest, like he could actually take
a hit in the NFL. So hopefully that's an accurate
representation of what McCarthy is going to be in the NFL.
But his first opening press conference is back. He's speaking again,
which means Minnesota Vikings football is almost in the air.
(10:57):
It's late April, got May, June, July, August, September, five
months until the Minnesota Vikings regular season kicks off. It's
crazy how long the NFL off season is. Yet the
NFL runs sports headlines even in April, even when the
Minnesota Timberwolves are up three to one against the Lakers.
(11:20):
I'm talking about McCarthy and what he said at the
podium today. Thank you for watching this episode, and remember
check out five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis and get
the bathroom remodel of your dreams. Free consultations available. Check
them out today and you will not be disappointed. Thank
(11:40):
you for watching and for making this podcast a part
