Speaker 5 (11:24):
And Welcome to the twenty twenty five NBA Draft.

Speaker 17 (11:28):
From big cities to small towns, basketball is played and
followed everywhere, and during your finals, the very best basketball
was played in the heartland of America. Yesterday, half a
million people in a city of seven hundred thousand turned
out in Oklahoma City for the Thunders championship parade. That

(11:51):
was yet another amazing example of how sports can evoke
enormous passion and bring people together.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
The Thunder were the second.

Speaker 17 (12:00):
The youngest championship team in NBA history, but what they
lacked and experience, they more than made up for in
unselfish play and a team first mentality. Seven years ago,
Shank Gilches Alexander, the league's MVP, scoring champion and Finals MVP,

(12:20):
walked across the.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Stage as the eleventh pick in the draft.

Speaker 17 (12:25):
He and his teammates spent countless hours in the gym,
watching film and pushing themselves to.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Be the very best. Which of the players drafted tonight.

Speaker 17 (12:35):
Will be the next key piece of a championship team?
With seven different champions over the past seven years, welcome
to a new era of NBA basketball where every team
has a shot. Which team will emerge as next season's champion.
The competition begins tonight, So let's get started. The first

(13:03):
pick in the twenty twenty five NBA Draft belongs to
the Dallas Mavericks, who have five minutes to make their selection.

Speaker 5 (13:12):
And I'm gonna be that guy.

Speaker 10 (13:14):
I said it two years ago when the Spurs had
the number one pick and we all knew it was
going to be Victor. When by Yama, fellas, do they
need five more minutes to decide who they're taking here?

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Well, let me let me start with it.

Speaker 10 (13:26):
I went over and talked with Jelly Flags prior to
the draft and I said, hey, congratulations, look forward to
seeing you in Dallas, and she says, I hope so,
but I'm not gonna take it. And so when you
consider that, maybe they do need the five minutes, but
we all know they asked what we do not need
the five minutes Before we get to the beginning of

(13:49):
the draft and the pick that we all.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
Can't expect will be coming within five minutes.

Speaker 10 (13:53):
Let's hit some headlines that are surrounding the NBA and
this draft, and well, Cooper Flag.

Speaker 5 (13:59):
You know he is from Main's lat Let's call him
the main event like we had two years ago.

Speaker 10 (14:02):
As I mentioned with Wemby, it's a consensus number one pick.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
He is the national player of the year. A really
interesting team.

Speaker 10 (14:09):
Picking first as well in Dallas mavericks wink wink, after
trading away Luka Donsig. It's amazing that they jump ten
spots to get the number one pick, PJ. It's rare
to have a team pick number one that's also in
winnow mode.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
So that's what we have tonight.

Speaker 10 (14:24):
How does Flag fit into Dallas' timeline with veteran stars
like Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Speaker 18 (14:29):
On his roster, Allen could not fit in more, I
say equally across the board. You look at the players
they have right now, putting the injuries aside, with ad
with Lively, with Jaffer, with just the loaders when Kyrie
comes back. Cooper's Flag. The best thing about him is

(14:52):
his versatility. He'll do whatever he needs to do to
blend in He'll be different at different times in the game,
depending who he's on the forward. I love the fact
that Miko Harrison is getting credit now for what was
a gutsy pick, was a really good pick. And his
team right now has one of the best returning rosters
in the NBA COMMA provided they're healthy. When they're healthy,

(15:15):
and adding Cooper Flag to that roster incredibly good, very
fortunate for them. I think more fortunate for Cooper. I
think it's amazing.

Speaker 10 (15:24):
You're talking about the overall number one pick and he
had more pressure on him last year as a seventeen
year old as the face.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Of the Brotherhood Do Basketball than he will have as
the number one overall pick in the.

Speaker 10 (15:35):
Dallas plus of the supporting cast. And people will talk
about versatility. Andy Carr, you see to play so much
chiclesis in this game. He's got offensive versatility. He's also
got defensive versatility his wings fan Yes, he actually does that,
But when you consider his punt. We saw from Nko
Harrison two years ago in the draft where they made

(15:56):
a trade Oklahoma City to bring Derek Lively to Dallas,
and that is a team and they also bought another
duke guy in by the name of Kyrie Urging. That
team went on to the finals. Now this year they
don't make the playoffs. So do we see another finals
appearance on the Mavericks the season, I mean next season something,
because that's the order.

Speaker 7 (16:13):
Has gone for them.

Speaker 10 (16:15):
But when you look at Cooper Flag, he fits in defensively,
wide away and as coach said, doesn't have the pressure
of being an offensive guy for day one. Well, they
said the pick is in. It has been in since
they won the lottery. We have to believe and momentarily
we'll find out for party. Earlier we were talking, you
made a comparison to another team that was in win

(16:36):
now mode and had the number one pick in the draft.
I was part of the nineteen ninety seven spurs On
I believe that has to be twenty eight years ago
today drafts it. I called him Timothy and of course
within two years he was a Finals MVP and.

Speaker 7 (16:55):
An NBA champion.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
But he came to a.

Speaker 10 (16:57):
Ready made team while alongside another top fifty all time
player and David Robinson, but veterans and to understand what
the league is like. He was plug and play and
burstuval defensively was truly allowed this bird to win that
first championship in.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Nineteen ninety nine. Of course Tim goes on to win five.

Speaker 10 (17:15):
We don't know if that happens to Cooper, but in
the fit very similar. So what Tim Duncan walked into
with San Antonio in nineteen ninety seven, and he had
an under side starling on that team that was absolutely dynamic,
that could really knock tarn shots.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
That was a big part of that decision. I thought
we was undersized. I thought you were talking about Avery Johnson.
I was a big.

Speaker 10 (17:36):
Guard back in ninety If the name all guard now,
we can expect a lot of.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
This, folks.

Speaker 10 (17:42):
This is the last couple of years. It makes sense,
said Dockdale. Shot Avery didn't do what to that is.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
There's something in the water in Texas.

Speaker 18 (17:50):
He got san Antonio, we got Dallas, Houston knocking.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
Had a door he was.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
There's a lot of powers gonna be in the lone
star state and.

Speaker 10 (17:59):
There all trying to catch up with the neighboring state
to the north.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Across the Red River.

Speaker 10 (18:08):
Has the schedules those teams have to play within the conference.
That alone, right, when you talk about the Westerns rofference alone.

Speaker 7 (18:15):
How about the teams going in there. Used to call
it the Texas three step.

Speaker 18 (18:19):
Doesn't happen as much anymore with the scheduling, but nobody
was looking forward to catch you whoever it was on
the back to backs when you went through Texas.

Speaker 10 (18:27):
Absolutely will be no nights off when you enter the
states state of Texas with the quality that they're going
to have in those three NBA teams, you know, with
that in mind, you mentioned also the Houston Rockets in
there when the Spurs at the second pick, the Rockets
gave up, they had the tenth pick, but they got
Kevin Durant. They still kept a lot of their young
players despite the fact that they got a guy like

(18:47):
Kevin Durrant. They moved on from a number two overall
pick in Jalen Dream but they still have five of
their first round picks over the last two drafts.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
Said, what does that give them the ability to do
going forward?

Speaker 10 (18:59):
Did they stay young or before we get into that,
Adam Silver with the first pick of the draft.

Speaker 17 (19:05):
With the first pick in the twenty twenty five NBA Draft,
did Dallas Mavericks select Cooper Flagg in Duke University?

Speaker 5 (19:20):
Obviously not a surprise.

Speaker 10 (19:22):
We had odds on this, By the way, guys, to
show you that no one was surprised by this. ESPN
Bet had it at minus fifty thousand that he would
be the number one pick. So what we just discussed
it his fit there. They won't have Kyrie Irving to
start the season. But this is a team that just
a season ago was in the NBA Finals and now

(19:45):
they add a player that could be a generational talent
at the very top.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Of the draft.

Speaker 10 (19:51):
Well when you look at that and I hear people
say they won't have Tyree Recurvan to start the season
with Allan, We've seen.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
A lot of Kyrie and we know how.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Much he loves to prove people wrong.

Speaker 10 (20:01):
He tore his ACL nine months fried to win the
season was falled.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
I would not be shocked kury Braid.

Speaker 10 (20:10):
Just see again, we know Kyrie, we know how he
likes to prove people well. And again Dallas may go
in and say, hey, listen, we're gonna slow play this,
We're going to hold his back. But in knowing Kyrie Irving,
I think he's gonning to be back. When the ball
the sent was off the season, I know Dallas will
go out and try to bring in a veteran point guard.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
But I don't know that this is going to be.

Speaker 10 (20:31):
A January February return. But Kyrie likes how many different
people are before now.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Guys, this is what significant also about.

Speaker 10 (20:37):
Him joining a veteran team is because he reclassified.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
He's eighteen years old.

Speaker 10 (20:44):
He's the second youngest number one pick in draft history,
only Lebron.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
James, who is I think it's a difference of ten days.
Ron debirth counts. Yeaheable.

Speaker 10 (20:56):
So when you have like Lebron James, went into a
situation where he had to be great for a team
that wasn't great. Cooper Flag is extremely young, but he's
going to a team like.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
We were just talking about before.

Speaker 10 (21:07):
He doesn't have to carry them, he doesn't have to
be the face of the franchise.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
How big of a benefit is that, not just.

Speaker 10 (21:14):
For him or for the matter, but for his development
because we've seen a lot of young guys get eaten
up in this league early on. He's going to take
what the defense give. He's gonna be pick his rolls
on in each take, depending on the lineup that he's
playing with. I think the biggest thing is the locker room.
He's going to because he's going into a locker room
with veteran players, said it kind of been in his situations,
like can Anthony Davis, like Klay Thompson, like a Kyrieer

(21:37):
to help him navigate that transition. I think a locker
room is so important to a young talented player like him.

Speaker 18 (21:44):
He's also got I think a coach who's been through
this before himself, young coach, tremendous expectations when he came
into the league.

Speaker 7 (21:53):
You know, has done everything.

Speaker 18 (21:55):
He's accomplished as a player and as a coach, all
of favor. You talking about Jason Kidd and again going
back to that versatility so many things. So many times
with young players, you tell them you don't have to
go in and score twelve points, Like just go in,
go through anything. In this case, he can get some rebounds,
he can defend, he can make passes, he can contribute

(22:16):
in four or five different ways. And so many young
players don't know how to do that. They think, well,
I got to go in. I got to score points
right away because I was a high draft picker. Because
I'm getting a chance to play. Cooper Flagg has the
poise to let things come to him.

Speaker 10 (22:31):
Now the pick is in for the Spurs and Corey.
We were talking about this earlier as well. What san
Antonio does with his number two pick has got your attention.
What it really is telling because when you think about
Dylan Harper, who is a projective number two picks, if
you take him in San Antonio, while you already made
a big move to get the air and box and
you have Stefan Cassell who was the rookie of the years,

(22:53):
you have a back what that is set for the
future in san Antonio drafting at number two. He's in
draft at number two once and that was a guy
who's at all times great by name of Kevin Durant.
When you draft number two, you're not looking to draft
a reserve. And so Dylan Harper, in my opinion, isn't
the best fit for san Antonio, and I believe if

(23:15):
they do take him, he could very well be a
piece to going out and getting The biggest fish.

Speaker 19 (23:21):
Of all is gianis Antea Koupo, who has open minded
to listing to trade office, which is the first time
we've ever seen that from him in his twelve year careers.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
So it is still something that's.

Speaker 10 (23:33):
On the table, though there has been reporting that that
Giannis has not said that he.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Wants to leave. The Bucks are killing teams that are calling.

Speaker 10 (23:41):
We're not trading him, but Giannis has said that he
wants to see where the franchise is going. There's no
Dame Lillard obviously next season because he had one of
the three players that hopped his achilles during the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
So it still is a possibility and that something is
on the table.

Speaker 10 (23:57):
For a GOOPO, especially if for the Bucks the does
an offer that they can't refuse, as they used to
say in this town.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
I understand all that, but and I'm gonna.

Speaker 10 (24:07):
Ask PJ this, Dylan HAWKERM six', six, physical cooking into,
defender has a floor, game a tolentric, passer high. BASKETBALL
i qut does that sound like A spurs?

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Play?

Speaker 18 (24:21):
ABSOLUTELY i think he fits The spurs. Profile and that's
always been something that's very. IMPORTANT i can't tell you
how many times in that draft, Room rcity Or pop
Or Sam presty in his, state so many guys that
have gone on from that draft, room and at some
point somebody's gonna, say can he be A spur or
he knows what that. ENTAILS i Think Dylan harker.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
Can be a.

Speaker 18 (24:42):
Skerk now you talk About. Yarnis there aren't a lot
of teams who have enough firepower to give back To
milwaukee to Get. Yarns it's a short, List SO i
mean you got to, realize, hey we're one of the ones.

Speaker 7 (24:56):
That can make this. Deal to do, it we're gonna have.

Speaker 18 (24:59):
To give up a, lot a lot of valuable pieces
that we really.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
Like but what we're getting in return Is.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Joannis and that's the.

Speaker 10 (25:07):
Thing if The spurs are win now modes because we
know that window is.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
Short you've got victim women y'ama on his Bookie.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
Bill course you'll.

Speaker 10 (25:15):
Continue to extend, him but this is the opportunity to
go in and bring in a guy who makes sixty
billion dollars a.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Year but you have so much draft.

Speaker 10 (25:23):
Capital plus The spurs have two lottery, picks, yes they've
got two and fourteen and this draft, alone bus they
have veteran players that if It's milwaukee would, listen all.
Right the pick is In Adam silver at the Podium
quick the.

Speaker 17 (25:38):
Second pick in the twenty twenty FIVE Nba, draft The
San antonio is first Select Dylan harper From Ruders, University.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Bobby mars play a Profile.

Speaker 20 (25:50):
Dylan harper a, big combo guard with an advanced skill.
Set harper plays at his own page and gets to his.
Spots he is a creative scorer who gets into the
paint and finishes in. Traffic harper is a smart passer
who thrives in pick and roll.

Speaker 10 (26:04):
Situations you hear the cheer here In. Brooklyn why, well
he's a local.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Kid, yes played At.

Speaker 10 (26:10):
Rutgers also his high school of all Don Bosco prep
In New jersey as. Well and so there it Is Corey,
alexander it Is Dylan. Harper it does not fill a
need positionally for The, spurs but you could argue talent,
wise that's the next best player in the, draft can
You you absolutely can argue. That And Dylan harper is
an elite. TALENT i believe he can be An All

(26:32):
star at THE nba. Level and when you look at,
THAT i believe that he is a great leverage piece as.
Well so To pj's, point he absolutely can be A.
Spur he fished the profile and if he is going
to be the third guard in your, backcourt you're going
to have elite. Backcourt but if it can be a
piece that goes and gets You. Giannistinakoupo now you are

(26:55):
in the midst to win a. Championship right, NOW i
would be interested you, pick you could Get Bill hulk
of what else would The stirs potentially have to give.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Us we've got a. Visitor we can talk about that.

Speaker 10 (27:10):
Later we're gonna talk about black here right at the
table as we get them right off the. Stage and
the number one pick in the draft is going to
put the headset.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
On he's got The Dallas mavericks.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Out on his head and he's joined us right.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
Now And, cooper first's foremost.

Speaker 10 (27:25):
Congratulations, second is there an exhale once you hear your
name and you know this process.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
From lottery night and now is.

Speaker 21 (27:32):
Complete, yeah, definitely there definitely is a thank you first of.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
All but, yeah the definitely is A Nick. Xigalya it's
over and we can kind of move on and get
us to the next. Ages i'm really excited was when
you look at.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Go back with me and tell me the.

Speaker 18 (27:47):
Truth when did you start THINKING i can be a
number one picked in THE nba?

Speaker 7 (27:52):
Draft how long?

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Ago honestly for, me two three years. AGO i think
AS i got into high school more down.

Speaker 21 (28:00):
To florida and started playing against the tyson against some
high competition every single day THAT i was AND i started,
to you, know realize that dream to be.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
Realities you look at the team you're going to right.
NOW i can't hear.

Speaker 10 (28:11):
YOU i, say if you look at the team you're
going to right now with the veteran, players what does
that mean to?

Speaker 5 (28:15):
You to be able to be part of the team
where you have these all stars who learn from and go. With,
YEAH i think it's.

Speaker 21 (28:22):
INCREDIBLE i feel LIKE i have a chance that not
a lot of guys in my position have.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Had SO i feel really.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Really blessed to.

Speaker 21 (28:28):
That and then just to be around those type of
guys every single, day you, know in the, gyms.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Whatever it, is just to be able to, learn you,
KNOW i want to be as. FUNGE i want to
learn as much AS i. Can So i'm really excited for.

Speaker 10 (28:38):
That i'm gonna show you guys this. Picture so this
is My cooper. Flag SO pj to your, question this
is WHAT i. Do he could be the number one
pick in his draft when he was playing with a mask.
On but this young, man WHEN i tell, you has
taken the defensive end of the, game so serious ever
Since i've met him in the seventh eighth. Grade but

(28:58):
what you've done in the world last calendar year on
the McDonald's game to now you've grown so much as
an offensive.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Player can you do that? Again can you make another
jump like?

Speaker 7 (29:09):
That?

Speaker 2 (29:10):
YEAH i think.

Speaker 21 (29:11):
SO i mean for, me it just comes down to the,
work you, know putting the hours in getting that, confidence And.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
I'm just trusting. MYSELF i, Mean.

Speaker 21 (29:17):
Clych sire had so much trust in me raising the
jump of just putting them.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
All in my hands and kind of just.

Speaker 10 (29:21):
Letting me figure it.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Out SO i think that was part of.

Speaker 10 (29:23):
It and THEN i, say LIKE i, said.

Speaker 21 (29:25):
Just put it in the, work continuing to gain more
and more, confidence and THEN i think the rest will
figure this out.

Speaker 7 (29:29):
Out.

Speaker 10 (29:32):
Well congratulations once, again and again we've seen this coming
for quite some. Time but we're glad to we're finally.
Here thank, you and now mom can can take a.

Speaker 22 (29:43):
View definitely can't thank you, guys which you thank you so,
much and it has to be it has to be
that that's obviously that exhale because.

Speaker 10 (29:55):
You, know like you know what you, know but you,
also AS i Think, corey you, said his mom, said
don't want to jinx.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
It but let me tell you.

Speaker 10 (30:03):
This in, reality that, lottery the lottery balls fall the
way they, fall and he's not, thinking you, know he's, Thinking, Utah.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
Charlotte maybe you know he said he playing The.

Speaker 10 (30:12):
Carolinas he's going in a totally different situation.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
And from that lottery night on his, mindset how they.

Speaker 10 (30:18):
Have chase but sevenar at the. Combine the combine happens good.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
Night after the.

Speaker 10 (30:24):
Lottery i'm walking down the hallway into the. Building kelly
And Ralph flagg are walking. OUT i See, Kelly i'll say.
Congratulations dallas is a great. Spot Nico harris is my
gods as the kid's my. Guy and she's, Said, COREY
i don't want to go to No. Walk and that's
their biggest concern is will he actually be able to

(30:44):
go lay In, dallas because of course of The Luca
donta spray and With giannis before that saying that he
would open. Minded BUT i do believe That cooper will
start his career In, dallas AND i think he will
be a huge piece of what to be a championship.
Contender J has there ever been a quicker recovery from

(31:06):
what seemed like a franchise and almost ruined what they
were doing After Luca donson track compared to tonight where
they filled the arena with.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
A launch party in Now.

Speaker 18 (31:15):
No you, see he takes them a whole other. Level
but they were going to be pretty damn good. Anyhow
i'll tell you Nik or did not get dredit for
a lot of good things that happened with THE ludadatchi
Dred i'll tell you we missed the point.

Speaker 7 (31:28):
Out we should have made the point to.

Speaker 18 (31:30):
Him what was it like agonizing or exciting watching the?

Speaker 5 (31:35):
Lottery, yeah figured out where you're going to. GO i
mean he basically knew he was going to be a.
One what did it feel like.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
They are finding out what team was going to?

Speaker 7 (31:44):
Be your?

Speaker 5 (31:44):
Team, said no control over that.

Speaker 10 (31:46):
Whatsoever all, right just getting started here at THE Nba.
Draft the first two picks are In Cooper flagg deals To,
Dallas Dylan harper to The. Spurs The sixers on the.
Clock they will be making a pick shortly as the
has His ZERO'S Nba draft rupt to By Progressive Insurance
protect The stuff You love With Renders.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
Insurance Visit progressive Dot. Com so The sixers are in
an interesting place right.

Speaker 10 (32:11):
Now the pick is in Because Ace bailey is somebody
that you would think would go there fight he. Did
he did tell The sixers he did not want to
give them a. Workout that doesn't necessarily.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
Mean it won't take. Him but where The sixers, are
even as a, franchise is also something to keep an
eye on, here, guys it really.

Speaker 10 (32:29):
Is and when you look at The sixers and their raw,
SERVICES i believe the way That Ace bailey and his
representatives looked at it as this may not be the
best fit for him and HIS nba debut and so
but it wasn't just The sixers that they didn't.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
Build they didn't visit. Anyone and Again ace made it very.

Speaker 10 (32:47):
Clear it was just about, basketball keeping his head, down
blinding become in the best player that he can.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Be for whoever takes.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
US a lot of it had to do with the with, injuries.

Speaker 5 (32:57):
But paus pause the second Here Adam silver with the
third pick of the. Draft with the third pick.

Speaker 17 (33:03):
In the twenty twenty FIVE nba, drafts The philadelphia seventy
Six eries SELECT.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
Vj edgecomb from Vide bahamas From Baylor.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
University bobby mars play a PROFILE.

Speaker 20 (33:17):
Dj edgecombe an elite athlete with a budding skill. Set
edgecombe is an explosive leaper who finishes it through, contact
a capable spot up shooter who had a nice overall.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
Touch is an aggressive on ball defender with good.

Speaker 10 (33:32):
Instincts all, right, now is this a surprise or is
this something that you felt? Like any of, You i'll
let you just jump in right, now Because edgecombe is
somebody that felt like really skyrocketed in the mocks since
since the.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
LOTTERY i think it's a good trip to Torol Go.

Speaker 10 (33:50):
Golf he's a two white player you can, defend who's
a world class. Athlete he's a transition he could play the,
sides the tin fac, seat you, know. DRUGS i think
he's an interesting Fronspect cory a huge. UPSIDE i. AGREE
i believe he's the league. COMPETITIVE i think that's what
teams love most about, him AND i think that's what

(34:12):
What philly needs and that's what makes him a great
sick that's the. Word the seventy SIXTH a good call
there and joining us right now a great. FIT i
would think no matter who drafted. Him Dylan harper comes
from THE nba, royalty of, course family connected of course
Father Ron harper with several championships And San Antonio. Spurs
that's a pretty exciting franchise right now with two years

(34:33):
ago Getting victor won By yama A rookie of The
year last year and now you how do you feel about?

Speaker 12 (34:38):
That?

Speaker 7 (34:39):
MAN i feel.

Speaker 5 (34:39):
GREAT i Mean i'm just right again to oinn.

Speaker 23 (34:42):
PROGRAM i, Mean i'm trying to get that winning close
a beck To San.

Speaker 5 (34:45):
Antonio so when.

Speaker 18 (34:47):
What do you think the things that you need to
work on the most to get to that next level
to be, successful even even as a young guy in THE.
Nba definitely for, me just you.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Know learning every day from bets guys like.

Speaker 23 (35:00):
That just Because i'm nineteen years old AND i just got,
DRAFTED i don't know much about.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
THE nba as much as the best.

Speaker 23 (35:04):
Did so just taking every day and just learning and
just keep my ears open all the.

Speaker 7 (35:08):
Time it's a great attitude that's gonna help you an awful.

Speaker 10 (35:10):
Lot when you're visited with The, spurge what was the
one thing you took away from that after meeting with
him in Russy?

Speaker 5 (35:17):
AUTE i, mean just with them as a family.

Speaker 16 (35:19):
ATMOSPHERE i walked in.

Speaker 23 (35:21):
THERE i mean the whole the whole facility is that
you're altogether from the weight room to the training room
to the basketball, court like it's all one big.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
Thing every wall is.

Speaker 16 (35:28):
Open so just the family atmosphere and just the coaches.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
They have in lived the. Bench so let me tell
you guys.

Speaker 10 (35:33):
This we talk ABOUT nba suns all the, time right
If dylan of course is one of, those but.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
Our first two picks in this raft were coached by their.

Speaker 10 (35:42):
Moms dyl will be the first to tell you that his,
Mom maria is the hardest coach that you've ever played.

Speaker 7 (35:47):
For is that?

Speaker 5 (35:48):
Correct?

Speaker 23 (35:48):
Ever hard don't know all the time When i'm at
home on the, court practice.

Speaker 10 (35:54):
Whenever but when you also think about that mom played
a huge role and really your work ethic if you
had opportunity to see your brother play in THE. Nba
but what is that mom instilled in both of you
that have allowed us allows you to get to this.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
POINT i mean there's no. Shortcut she always tells. US i,
mean you keep the name in the main, thing.

Speaker 23 (36:10):
And then he's stay in the gym, consistently and you,
know as long as you work hard for your.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
Goals there's a chance you don't get.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Him all, right the Coach greenberg caught you sixty six.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
Earlier let's tell them the truth by ball. Six all,
right we leave it at.

Speaker 10 (36:24):
That take care of my. Guy you, know this is
my young fellow right. Here but he also said that
once he pushed the hair, down it. Goes how did
you get so good reading.

Speaker 5 (36:35):
The ball street? Action because you are so good at
reading off doctor.

Speaker 23 (36:38):
SEVENTY i think you, know WHEN i was, YOUNGER i
wasn't allowed to shoot jump, shots.

Speaker 16 (36:42):
So me getting downhill and just able to maneuver stuff like.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
That but just watching a lot of, FILM i think from.

Speaker 23 (36:47):
Senior year to the freshman year of, college just really
locking it on film and there's renal reads and stuff like,
that and just wrapping them out in the.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
Gym i'm not allowed to shoot jump?

Speaker 7 (36:55):
Shots who was?

Speaker 2 (36:56):
This didn't allow you to shoot jump? Shots my?

Speaker 7 (36:59):
Mom there you. Go, Hey i'm a seahaw, guy so
it's hard for me to say. That you're a heck
of a.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Player you can do really.

Speaker 7 (37:06):
WELL i wish good.

Speaker 5 (37:07):
Luck yes, there Congratulations, dylan thanks for joining.

Speaker 10 (37:10):
Us And Dylan harper again going to The.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
Spurs that's the number two.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Pick in the.

Speaker 10 (37:16):
Draft the three pick was In it was A philadelphia
seventy Six ERS Dj.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
EDGECOMBE a very interesting pick there for The. Sixers we were.

Speaker 10 (37:25):
In the midst of the conversation about, it gentlemen Before
dylan came, Over SO i think except you were jumping
in OR pj was to follow up On corey's point
about a great fit because of what The sixers need.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Type of.

Speaker 18 (37:39):
Player, well he's a fantastic, athlete and you're talking a young.
Guy but what jumps out of you when you watch
and play that win, spin the way he can impact the.
Game he plays, hard passes the ball, well he can.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
ASSIST i, mean he's a you, know he's got a
lot say his. GAME i think it's an excellent pick
for the honest From.

Speaker 10 (38:00):
PERVADELPHIA i think, too because what they need in that
locker room is. Competitiveness of, course that is the number
one characteristics of every day organization looking. For and he
is tied in my opinions for the most competitive guys
in this draft class With Cooper. Flag both of these
guys are a league competitors and both do it on
the defensive.

Speaker 5 (38:20):
Ends.

Speaker 10 (38:20):
First that's WHY i Think DJ's fish perfectly with the.
Six and again that first.

Speaker 8 (38:25):
Set the big piece before coming to you from the
twenty and twenty FIVE nba bath in the black, hole
they're all trying to go to the next level OF nba.

Speaker 16 (38:34):
Basketball The Dallas.

Speaker 8 (38:35):
Mavericks they take number, One Big Cooper flag out Of Duce.
UNIVERSITY i think he's going to be a stars down
With Jason. Diggs and Then Dallas. Mavericks we have the
Numbered sue pick that came out Of. Rutgers he's got
a great guard by the name Of dylan harperg goes with.
This San antonio's, first he's in the black. HOLE i
think it's gonna be a great player down there with

(38:57):
Women yamas for The snotodio first bad if you want
to bring them.

Speaker 16 (39:01):
Back he such amata. Form and then the.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Number three picks Bj as.

Speaker 16 (39:05):
Com out of The Baylor he's the guard going down
to The philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Seven he sink in the black.

Speaker 16 (39:12):
Hole a lot of great players realizing their.

Speaker 8 (39:14):
Dreams tonight at THE Nba draft when The mari play
dinner In, Brooklyn i'm going to let get back to
THE Nba.

Speaker 16 (39:21):
Draft barclay In.

Speaker 10 (39:23):
Brooklyn are The sixers in the point where they need
to start maybe transitioning that Where maxi McCain, like that's
more of who they.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Are is the.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Process over In? Philadelphia the process is not.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Over you just have to have a.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
Process any of the.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Process b you got to have.

Speaker 10 (39:40):
A different game plan for when embat is available and
when he's.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Not AND i think that would be.

Speaker 10 (39:45):
The sixers the best not knowing when he's going to
be available to. Them the availability part when it comes
TO mb is the biggest story. There, yes and also
because of his presence physically and also who he is AN,
Mvp it's very difficult for a young player Like maxi
to sort of take that beat, role.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
But that's what he has to do because of the
fact THAT mb is not really there all the. Time,
coach how hard is that if you're you, know You're Nick.

Speaker 10 (40:12):
Nurse you need, consistency but your lineup changes based on
whether or not the big guy is there for you
on the.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
Court it's.

Speaker 7 (40:19):
Impossible that's been the.

Speaker 18 (40:20):
Problem i've had a lot of other injuries, also not Just,
joel but you cannot he's a franchise. Player he's a transcendent,
talent but you can't count on him because he's not,
there and you got you got to wonder what impact
that has on the other players on the franchise in.
General that's a really really challenging and difficult situation.

Speaker 5 (40:43):
And a lot of it right.

Speaker 10 (40:44):
NOW i know they can't do it because you can't
make your money work and no one's probably go through.

Speaker 5 (40:49):
It but the best of these six ers can do is.

Speaker 10 (40:52):
Figure out a way financially to rebuild their organization AROUND
maxi and Move JOE.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
NB i, mean you can't do it because you can't
find a, Partner but you don't think THAT i can move?

Speaker 10 (41:06):
Forward can they move forward in the situation we're in right?
Now how hard IS i believe That JOE lmb is
such a? Tower and we'll talk about that we come back.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
Silver at the.

Speaker 17 (41:19):
PODIUM Nba Draft The Charlotte, hornets Like Khan caniple from
The Duke University.

Speaker 10 (41:29):
Bobby mars play a Profile Khankin nipple a pure shooter
with a smart and polished.

Speaker 20 (41:36):
Game K nipple is a crafty scorer and saddy ball
move who understands. Spacing he can play a both on
and off the, ball makes quick decisions and competes at
a high level.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
Defensively.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
So another duke, player and yet he doesn't have to
leave the. Stake And, charlotte you think about what they're
going to Have LaMelo.

Speaker 10 (41:57):
Ball they have A Brandon MILLER i love his, game
and now you add K, nipple WHO i think it's
actually a great fit.

Speaker 5 (42:06):
There when you consider the two players he'd be in.
Between do we all agree on?

Speaker 10 (42:10):
THAT i agree on that from the simple, factor just
like we talked About Jewel, embiid you also have to
Consider Lamela ball isn't really, available so you take that
into Consider Razia khon K nipple as a.

Speaker 5 (42:20):
Guard that can play both.

Speaker 10 (42:21):
Positions we saw him When Cooper blagg got hurt all
in THE Ac tournament become really a primary.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
BALLHANDER i believe he had double.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Just assists in that.

Speaker 10 (42:29):
Game but his shooting ability opens up so many different.
Opportunities Willamelo ball Or Brandon millan was a number, one
number two pick a couple of years, ago SO i
think he's a perfect fit for The Charlotte. Hornets and no,
Surprise Jeff peterson goes with shooting and a guy.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
That's in the state to be able to pay that
police attendance.

Speaker 10 (42:48):
By way and people coming From, durham they may check
out the group In.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Charlotte big time shot.

Speaker 10 (42:53):
Maker To richard playing off the, ball can play it
on the. Ball AND i think the biggest thing when
you think About charlotte.

Speaker 8 (43:02):
Another great player the number four pick number two contos a.

Speaker 16 (43:07):
Guard out of, goods competit and he's going to stay
home to play for The Charlotte.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
Hornets a great player adding a high upside off of
of talent and, duke a one and done star the great.
CONTINUUM a phenomenal catch is you threat who is active
and effective off the ball at, relocating firing off brings
and then get his feet set in transition. Thig it's
gonna be a great fit for The charlotte franchise And
Charlotte ring twenty eighth and three point twoty percentage at

After how about your mother for you growing? Up what
was that?

Speaker 24 (47:47):
Like, yeah it's great to have parents that love, basketball
and you know it's not necessarily just a, game but
the things you learned from the, game and you, know
having that in the, family that that competitiveness is that.

Speaker 5 (47:57):
Will to be better is.

Speaker 10 (48:00):
Invaluable, god what did you learn from the experience At
duke this?

Speaker 5 (48:05):
Year the team that you played, on and like the
many roles that you had depending on when people to
play any? People, Now, YEAH i.

Speaker 24 (48:12):
Mean it did a really good job of preparing me
for What i'll see at the next. Level you're not
always gonna be the best player on the. Floor how
are you gonna affect? Winning how are you gonna make
winning plays despite not always having the ball and always
shoots the.

Speaker 5 (48:23):
Ball what are you gonna do to affect? WINNING i
think that was the biggest THING i took over and.

Speaker 10 (48:27):
You talk about taking that. Away how do you affect?
Winning what is your biggest advice you give to your little,
Brothers because you've got a couple of guys following, you
and you got to be the example now as the
old guy in the, house was the advice you give
you younger brothers as you.

Speaker 5 (48:40):
Watched him go? Up? Hooper, YEAH i MEAN i think
the biggest thing is just putting the, work getting.

Speaker 25 (48:44):
Better every, day not worrying about the, results just worrying
about the process of getting better each.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
Day AND i had a chance to talk to your.

Speaker 10 (48:50):
DAD i talk much about him all year BECAUSE i
was talking about your, mom BUT i did tell your.

Speaker 5 (48:54):
DAD i, mean he definitely is the second best player
in that, Marriage so you, know would you agree with?

Speaker 26 (48:59):
That?

Speaker 5 (49:00):
YEAH i think he'll.

Speaker 7 (49:01):
Tell you that.

Speaker 18 (49:01):
TOO i kind of know you spent a lot of
time more atching in college and acc but came not
far away from your MBAs familiarity With charlotte and is
that one of the teams that you, Expected, hey we
chance we're going to end up.

Speaker 25 (49:16):
There, yeah, obviously you, know work worked out for them
and really got a feel For coachy and and With
peterson in the front, office and you, KNOW i think that.

Speaker 5 (49:27):
Relationship WAS, theirs BUT i think he could.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
Build that with.

Speaker 5 (49:29):
Them but they came to training camp at. Dude so
getting able to be able to see the team see
that operate was really.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
Cool and that's two duke players in the top.

Speaker 5 (49:38):
FOUR a good class for duke once. Again Enjoy North.

Speaker 10 (49:42):
Carolina, congratulations thank you Conn okay contin hiple goes.

Speaker 5 (49:47):
Four so just to reset, here at the very top of.

Speaker 10 (49:50):
The, Draft Hooper flag goes to The Dallas, mavericks also
the duke, player and the second pick is THIS GIRs Dylan.
Harper at the third, PICK dj edgecumb goes to the
seventy six. Ers you Mentioned Kankin. Nipple he's just talked
with him with his apportets at number four and the
fifth pick in the drafts, gentlemen As i'm joined By Seth,
GREENBERG Bj calissimo And Corey Alexander Ace bailey goes to number,

(50:14):
Five so there'll be No Schador sanders stories in this draft.
Tonight but The angels see something in As bailey's to
make him the. Best, well thanks for Certain Danny aing
ain't ever, scatered so we know who the. End If
Danny aing's recognizes a, talent he is absolutely going to take.
It you're talking about the same young man that Drafted Jamel,

(50:37):
brown Drafted Jason tatum both at. Three he recognized a
talent and he's going to go get them when he
gets an opportunity to do.

Speaker 5 (50:45):
So, cory you know the situation's wrong With Ace. Falley
let me ask.

Speaker 10 (50:48):
You is that the type of environment That ace family
is looking, for an environment where.

Speaker 5 (50:55):
He could be a culture point of what they're.

Speaker 10 (50:57):
Doing i'll Ask i'll answer your, question the question who
is the starting small fowler for The Utah james? Term
if you can't can't, Answer if you can't, answer then,
yes it's a great situation for him.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
To walk right in.

Speaker 10 (51:13):
Teams we know that The jazz are in rebuilding mode
And danny ings now has a player who MANY i,
mean coming into this.

Speaker 5 (51:21):
Season it was a question was Lead A's, Bailey.

Speaker 2 (51:24):
Hooper black who was the best?

Speaker 10 (51:25):
Players it would be a tough decision from many executives
back thens as who they would take at.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
One Danny ings got a number one type talent at.

Speaker 10 (51:36):
Five he's done that multiple times and the last time
he did, it he Got Jason tatum at three and
ends up being A nba. Champion and think about, it
if The jazz had the worst record in the league
and they fell as far as you possibly could for
spots to the fifth, pick yet potentially still could come
away with the second best players in this.

Speaker 5 (51:56):
Draft so it's going to show you how what might
be misfortune could end up still being fortunate if things work.
Out do we have, like first of, all let's shout Out,
rutgers shall? We because that's about about Two Rutgers Scarlet.
Knights first fool in modern drafts air to.

Speaker 10 (52:14):
Have multiple players taken in the top five after missing
THE ncaa.

Speaker 5 (52:17):
Tournament so while they had, talent they did not have
the on court.

Speaker 10 (52:20):
Success but still For Steve pikelin's, program seth this still
is a feather in the.

Speaker 5 (52:24):
Cap it's absolutely. Huge and not look This rutgers.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Team they had.

Speaker 10 (52:28):
Injuries throughout the season Where ace was set for a
couple of games and billam missed a couple of, games
so they lost that opportunity to get the compability and
then the retention part of this their. Roster they were
their inability to retain unruly and, uh what's what's the
other wing playing? That that's the thing that hurt that

(52:48):
this guy's in the Ruptless. Colors, yes So washington is
on the clock to pick is.

Speaker 5 (52:54):
In we'll get to that.

Speaker 10 (52:54):
Momentarily but the man of the moment right now Is Ash,
bailey who's joining us right.

Speaker 7 (52:59):
Now and.

Speaker 10 (53:01):
You have answered this question many times about your pre draft.
Process now that it is, over is there an exhale
for you now that you know where you're.

Speaker 5 (53:08):
GOING i always had an.

Speaker 27 (53:09):
EXL i ain't hoping to get baskets, on SO i

got you out of the hood and chaddmie.

Speaker 2 (53:26):

Speaker 10 (53:29):
Family this is not an, Agent this is not. Representation
this is your family right. There as you listen to
your family come under. Fire so a, boy the national
media all, SEAT i mean for the last couple of.
Weeks does this validate that you guys process for?

Speaker 27 (53:42):

work on a banke ball. POINT i trust out enough
because y'all more than just an agents in y'all, family.

Speaker 16 (53:50):

Speaker 5 (53:51):
Way they're gonna look for the best, hanking my best
hanking interest for. Me SO i trusted them and they
look where you at going To?

Speaker 2 (53:56):
Utah do you think that this is the best situation for?

Speaker 7 (53:58):
You for? Sure? Yes?

Speaker 5 (53:59):

it can impact what jumps out of. ME i don't
want to overrate the. Numbers the measure with the co.

Speaker 10 (54:24):
Coach if we can hold that buck one, second we
Have Adam silver at the podium for the sixth pick
of the.

draft The Washington wizard Selects Trey johnson from The university Of.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Texas to It's Bobby mars play a Profile.

Speaker 20 (54:42):

johnson is a dynamic shooter with deep range and a quick.
Release he excels at creating space and moving without the.
Ball an underrated, Passer johnson.

Speaker 5 (54:56):
Is comfortable and picking the roll. Situations break down that
in a. Moment BUT, pj you were asking As bailey.

Speaker 7 (55:03):
A, Question, WELL i know as watched the.

Speaker 18 (55:05):
Finals who watched all the talent That okac, Has but
a lot of that talent is defensive. Talent WHEN i
see your numbers from the, COMBINE i see the wings,
FAN i see you with averaging two point three, steals
and watch through the. Year everybody talks about your, scoring
but you can impact the teams defense plan when you
get to THE nba and you see how important that

(55:26):
is watching these teams in the, Firement.

Speaker 5 (55:28):
Sir it's very. IMPORTANT i mean when we're using my,
SIZE i can read down pins the.

Speaker 27 (55:32):
